ICTs have a remarkable potential to improve the agricultural practices and innovation systems and to achieve significant benefits. The improvement of sustainable agricultural production and productivity largely depends on the advancement of agricultural research and its effective applications in firms supply chain through innovation and technology transfer. ICTs have a great potential to improve the whole line of production processes and the environmental impacts in terms of ecology, economy, food safety and quality that leads the countries to economic, social and environmental welfare and healthier population.

Furthermore, supply chain management is an integral part of most businesses and is essential to company success and customer satisfaction. Success of any business is inextricably linked to the performance of the supply chain. SCM creates foundation for economic growth, Supply chain professionals design and operate all of the supply chains in a society and manage transportation, inventory management, packaging and logistics information. As a result, there are many jobs in the supply chain field. As designers of the network, supply chain managers have the role of developing energy-efficient supply chains that use fewer resources with the opportunity to decrease unwanted environmental pollutions. As for the societal Roles of SCM, it includes improvement of human healthcare and protection of humans from climate changes.

As the evolution of ICTs enables to gather huge and invaluable data from numerous and highly varied sources in easier ways, virtually all modern organizations seek to use information systems in their supply chain to achieve the goals and gain a competitive advantage. More likely to happen if support is conditional on the adoption of ICTs and BDA (Big Data Analytics) tools as BDA combined with emerging technologies represents a significant potential to provide predictive insights in organizational operations and to drive real-time operational decisions.
