Overview

GTU and UniFg 1st joint conference “Dynamics and recent trends of vary industries in EU and Georgia: ICTs adoption in supply chain management” will be held from 17-19 October in Georgian Technical University, Tbilisi, Georgia.

Georgian Technical University is one of the biggest educational and scientific institutions in the South Caucasian region. GTU was founded in 1922 and represents a leading engineering higher educational institution and powerful scientific center. In 2005 GTU joined Bologna process. It has partner relationships with up to 42 local and 63 international research and scientific-educational organizations. GTU central scientific library is one of the largest libraries in Georgia.

Since its foundation (Italian Ministerial Decree 05.08.1999), the Università degli Studi di Foggia has presented – in terms of education and research – a dynamic and innovative proposal. A module characterised by didactics in step with the territorial requirements, by applied local research projects, internationalization, orientation, cultural events and promotion of University activities.

The University of Foggia and the Georgian Technical University have been collaborating for more than one year already. This conference will be a serious enhancement of the relationship between these two universities and the two countries.

Purpose

The purpose of the conference is to bring together researchers, scientists, practitioners, students for a corporate scientific discussion about current and emerging research issues, problems, questions, findings, new achievements, current advances in knowledge and new perspectives relevant to involve the technologies in the business processes more actively. It also hosts discussions, data analysis, case studies, and industrial practices in form of research papers. The conference will be the excellent opportunity to share data and experiences face to face between researchers from all over the world, promote international academic researches, discuss research and exchange ideas, share knowledge and results in theory, popularize works of scientists in international journals, integrate scientists into the world processes, and to find global partners for future collaboration.

Furthermore, supply chain management is an integral part of most businesses and is essential to company success and customer satisfaction. Success of any business is inextricably linked to the performance of the supply chain. SCM creates foundation for economic growth, Supply chain professionals design and operate all of the supply chains in a society and manage transportation, inventory management, packaging and logistics information. As a result, there are many jobs in the supply chain field. As designers of the network, supply chain managers have the role of developing energy-efficient supply chains that use fewer resources with the opportunity to decrease unwanted environmental pollutions. As for the societal Roles of SCM, it includes improvement of human healthcare and protection of humans from climate changes.

As the evolution of ICTs enables to gather huge and invaluable data from numerous and highly varied sources in easier ways, virtually all modern organizations seek to use information systems in their supply chain to achieve the goals and gain a competitive advantage. More likely to happen if support is conditional on the adoption of ICTs and BDA (Big Data Analytics) tools as BDA combined with emerging technologies represents a significant potential to provide predictive insights in organizational operations and to drive real-time operational decisions.
